Symphony Orchestra Concert: Story in Sound, featuring Jennie Oh Brown, flute

Jennie Brown believes today’s artists are responsible for bringing meaningful change to society and uses this core belief to fuel her entrepreneurial spirit. She is Artistic and Executive Director of Ear Taxi 2020, the second iteration of Augusta Read Thomas’ milestone 2016 Ear Taxi Festival.  Ear Taxi 2020 centers around the theme, “HEAR ALL VOICES.” and will showcase Chicago’s vibrant new and experimental music community with concerts throughout the Chicago area in October of 2020. She is also celebrating the release of her second solo album dedicated to her grandmothers and titled Giantess, featuring the music of Carter Pann, Shulamit Ran, Augusta Read Thomas, Valerie Coleman, and Misook Kim. Shortly after its release, it was featured in Chicago Tribune lead critic Howard Reich’s Best Classical Albums of 2019.  Her third Innova Recordings album, Vox, was commercially released on January 24th, 2020.  Brown’s debut solo album on Innova Recordings in 2015, “Looking Back: Flute Music of Joseph Schwantner,” received critical praise, including an Honorable Mention by New York Classical Review Critic George Grella on his personal “Best Classical Albums of 2015” list.
