Smoky the War Dog was a Yorkshire Terrier that only weighed 4 pounds and stood just 7 inches high, yet she was recognized for her “exceptionally meritorious service to our nation in a duty of great responsibility.”
Professional public speaker Adrian Brigham will share Smoky's story of bravery. Found by accident in the jungles of New Guinea during WWII, Smokey became the #1 mascot of the South Pacific. Adrian will explain how Smokey became the world's first official Therapy Dog and how she saved many lives, earning two medals of honor. Following the presentation, there will be a special guest appearance by Therapy Dog, “Hairy Pawter” a famous dog in his own right!
