Illinois Prairie Weavers Workshop Dianne Totten -- Crimp and Create October 10, 11 12

Take your fiber art in a new direction, creating “crimp cloth” in an in-person, on-loom workshop with Dianne Totten. Using a variation of woven shibori for warp or weft, you will create fabric with permanently crimped designs that retain memory even when washed. Apply this technique to any threading; understand the thought process that leads to endless possibilities with this “magic cloth.”  Participants will draft, weave, and crimp their samples in class. Learn how the fabric can be used for one-size-fits-all garments, for scarves and shawls that won’t fall off your shoulders. Replace a sweater’s knitted ribbing with permanently crimped pleating or add a knit look to a jacket’s collar. Note: no dying required, unlike traditional shibori weaving.

Skill level: adventurous beginners and beyond.

Requires 4 or 8 Shaft Loom. Class prep details will be sent after registration and payment are provided.
