Encaustic Demonstration by Rebecca Russow

The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild is excited to present a demonstration on the process of Encaustic. Fellow EAG member Rebecca Russow will take us on a journey of her art with a demonstration Nov. 18th from 7:00 until 9:00. Enter through The Education Doors of The Elmhurst Art Museum – 150 S. Cottage Hill, Elmhurst, Il. Masks are required.

According to Rebecca, encaustic is from a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in”. Natural bees wax and dammar resin (crystallized tree sap) are heated and applied to the surface. Rebecca experiments with a variety of materials to create these one of a kind pieces of art.
