Downers Grove Choral Society presents the finale to its 64th Season with the concert Beethoven: Love and Strength United

The Downers Grove Choral Society, with Artistic Director John Patrick Rakes, will present the finale to its 64th Season Sunday,  April 30, 2023 with the concert Beethoven: Love and Strength United. This concert features Ludwig van Beethoven’s  Mass in C, Opus 86, Choral Fantasy, Opus 80, pianist Karin Edwards and Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage, Opus 112.  Vocal soloists include Emily Spencer, Soprano, Michelle Wrighte, Mezzo-soprano, Cameo Humes, tenor and  David Govertsen, Bass. The concert is performed with full orchestra.

Beethoven: Love and Strength United will be presented at Downers Grove First United Methodist Church, 1032 Maple Avenue, Downers Grove, IL. There will be a pre-concert discussion at 3:15 p.m., followed by the 4:00 p.m. concert.

Downers Grove Choral Society, anchored in Downers Grove, draws its members from around the Chicagoland area. Our membership extends well beyond Downers Grove, including such communities as Western Springs, Elgin, Woodridge, Lemont, Wheaton, St. Charles, Naperville, Lisle, Lombard, Aurora, Villa Park, Darien and Willowbrook, to name just a few.

The concert venue policy is to follow the recommendations established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), which recommends that people wear a mask based on personal preference, informed by knowing the current COVID-19 community level where they live and personal level of risk when gathering indoors.
