Deborah Silver - Split-Shed Weaving Workshop

In-Person Monday, Sept 11 9:30A-4:30P / Tuesday, Sept 12 1:00P- 4:30P / Wed, September 13 9:30A - 4:30P (times CT)

Break away from blocks with split-shed weaving! Weave curves, blend colors, using continuous wefts on a 4-shaft loom with no special equipment. In this workshop, you will create multiple combinations of weave structures using only four shafts and straight threading, changing only tie-ups, and treadling between samples. Most of these combinations would normally require a minimum of eight shafts. Experiment with mixing twills, summer and winter, double weave, Han damask, taqueté and more!  Learn to make a cartoon on cloth that will advance with the warp and will not wrinkle when beating.  Leave with the ability to complete your samples at home with drafts and instructions. Deborah is the author of the book The Technique of Split-Shed Weaving. Learn more at https://www.deborahsilverstudio.com.

Workshop fee: Members: $155. Non-members $175. Includes warping instructions and handouts.  Materials Required: Pre-warped loom. Loom may be may be table or floor. Warp threads may be inexpensive; a variety of weft yarns may be used.
