Bethel United Church of Christ presents Summer concert
Summer Music at Bethel will conclude on Sunday, August 7 at 5pm with the final installment of the complete sonatas for cello by Beethoven featuring cellist Timothy Archbold and pianist Jeffrey Panko in performance, live at Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst. Beethoven’s writing is categorized in three periods (early, middle, late) and these three sonatas are prime examples of his compositional style and marked development from each of these periods. Summer Music at Bethel will conclude on Sunday, August 7 at 5:00 pm with the final installment of the complete sonatas for cello by Beethoven featuring cellist Timothy Archbold and pianist Jeffrey Panko in performance, live at Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst. Beethoven’s writing is categorized in three periods (early, middle, late) and these three sonatas are prime examples of his compositional style and marked development from each of these periods. Passionate, intimate, volcanic virtuosity, darkness and joy are just some of the words that can be used describing the many moods of Beethoven found in these works.
The concert will feature Sonata No. 2 in G minor, Op. 5, No. 2; Sonata No. 3 in A major, Op. 69; and Sonata No. 4 in C major, Op. 102, No. 1.
The concert will last approximately 1 hour, without intermission. A wine reception will follow the concert.
