African American Art of the 20th Century

Learn More About the Rich History and Creative Expression of Black Artists in the United States

Art historian Jeff Mishur presents a lecture on a selection of African American artists of the twentieth century. Mr. Mishur will discuss works by Henry Ossawa Tanner, Aaron Douglass, Walter Ellison, Archibald Motley Jr., Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold and others. Several styles practiced by African American artists will be discussed within the context of major European and American art movements including the Harlem Renaissance.
