The McAninch Arts Center is looking for a professional, friendly and outgoing House Manager to join a dedicated and fun team of managers at the McAninch Arts Center.

The McAninch Arts Center was recently renovated and is a state of the art Performing Arts Center which houses three theatres located at the College of DuPage.

We are looking for a professional, friendly, and service oriented manager to join our strong team of dedicated managers. The house manager will schedule ushers for each show  from a very dedicated and large pool of volunteers who usher at every performance.

The house managers primary responsibility it to helps patrons with seating, safety and any issues that arise during the performance and to deliver a high standard of exceptional customer service to all patrons.

The house manager is also responsible for shift meetings with volunteers, scheduling volunteers, and volunteer communications. Other responsibilities include:

-Directly supervise volunteer ticket takers and ushers, assign volunteers to positions.
-Ensure that theatres, restrooms, lobby and all public spaces are clean, safe and welcoming.  Communicate with custodial, grounds and engineering staff, as needed.
-Enforce policies regarding use of cameras and recorders, food and beverages, access and seating.
-Carry out established intermission procedures.
-Provide prompt, professional and courteous responses to all patron concerns.
-Adhere to all emergency procedures intended to ensure the safety and comfort of patrons.
-Ensure the orderly exit of patrons and follow procedures for closing of house.
-Ensure compliance with all ADA accessibility requirements.
-In the absence of the Patron Services Manager, assume full responsibility for managing the house.
-Other duties as required.

The McAninch Arts Center presents about 185 shows per year and the position is mostly evenings and weekends and one weekday each week. The schedule is about 30 hours per week and is an hourly position. Part-time employees receive holiday pay, and are eligible for the SURS retirement program,  tuition reduction. The position starts at  $16+ per hour -based on experience.

REQUIRED:
EXPERIENCE:  Two to three years customer/patron service or public relations related experience.  Proficiency in spoken and written English.  Bartending/cash handling/concession experience.
EDUCATION:  Associate’s Degree, some post-secondary public relations, CPR Certification, Basset Certification (will provide).

PREFERRED:
EXPERIENCE:  Three to five years customer/patron service or public relations related experience.
EDUCATION:  Bachelors, Public Relations, Liberal or Performing Arts.

Equipment & Working Conditions:
-Telephone, computer and AED Defibrillator.
-Considerable public contact, flexible hours, mostly evenings and weekends as performances are scheduled.  Must be able to lift and move 25 pounds.
