Temporary, part-time contract position with 6 month stipend
20-25 hours per week depending on schedule

Job Summary

This position will provide support for creative and innovative programming for the museum.

Working closely with the Director of Education, the Education Fellow will help develop creative programming including classes, public programs, docents, teen programs, as well as other administrative tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Director of Education in all outreach efforts to potential collaborators and partners
  • Help develop creative and innovative educational and interpretive programs for the museum
  • Manage and cultivate docent program and train volunteers for school tours
  • Lead group tours for K-12 students and develop and prepare materials for field trips
  • Coordinate field trips (Art is for Everyone) and Arty Parties
  • Support Director of Education to grow and expand teen programs
  • Serve as the contact for students, parents, and teachers
  • Process and oversee materials for classes, group visits, and other special programs
  • Ensure accuracy of all education program marketing materials and website
  • Assist with preparation for museum education internal reports and maintains general reporting records
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Current Master’s degree student or recipient from a regionally accredited institution in Art, Art History, Art Education, Museum Studies, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to art and education related questions from staff, students, and the general public
  • Ability to work well with children and families including special needs
  • Must display initiative, provide creative solutions, and utilize diplomatic skills with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and professionalism in all circumstances
  • Possess excellent organization and communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening, weekend, and holiday assignments
