“Nice Girl” synopsis: Josephine Rosen is stuck. It is 1984 in suburban Boston and Jo is 37, single, a secretary and still living with her mother. This is not the life she imagined for herself. A chance encounter with an attractive former schoolmate and a new friendship with a brash, fun-loving co-worker just might provide the momentum she needs to make a change. But needless to say, life is full of curveballs.

Characters include:

Josephine (“Jo”) Rosen (F) 37, smart, funny, dependable and dutiful, appears to be the “nice girl” from the outside.  Inside desperately wanting to change her life, but defined by past choices and torn by conflicting loyalties.

Donny Moretti (M) 38, a butcher, separated from his wife, a father of two teens. Charming, a ladies’ man, a flirt and a kidder.  Is he a cad or just confused? Trying to figure out where to go with his life.

Sherry (F) 34, secretary who works with Jo, divorced mother.  Funny, flamboyant and foul-mouthed. Outgoing and high spirited.  Looking for a man and a new career. Misguided but big-hearted.

Francine (F) 68, Jo’s mother, a shut-in. Has had a lot of loss in her life. Loves her daughter, but is controlling, manipulative and dependent.  Strong-willed. Afraid of losing her daughter.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Sides are available on the Village Theatre Guild website at http://villagetheatreguild.com/productions/auditions.

A Boston accent is not required, but would be a plus. Headshots and resumes are welcome but not required. No audition appointments are necessary.

The production will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from January 14 – February 5, 2022.

Please be prepared to list ALL conflicts with our rehearsal schedule that will be available on the audition form. There is no pay. Free parking is available at Village Theatre Guild.
