Yvonne Malone

I have spent much of my artistic life exploring different needlework and quilting traditions which I draw on when designing embroidery, appliqué and quilted pieces. My designs often start with a “big idea” – it could be a word, an article in the paper, a garden planting, a vintage fabric…  This idea is then re-interpreted in my sketchpad and eventually a quilt or other textile.

Recently, I have also begun to experiment with printing on textiles and dyeing with both commercial and natural dyes.

I grew up in northern Illinois and central Indiana, mainly in small midwestern towns. I  graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Marketing and Advertising and then moved to Chicago to pursue a career that included stints in financial services and consulting.
