Sally A Monkus

I am Resident Artist at ClaySpace Ceramic Studio in Lisle, Illinois. Although I began working in ceramics only recently I studied it while a student.
I take inspiration from the irregularities found in the natural world and my love of unconventional pottery.

Because I was trained in printmaking, I have a strong interest in process; in the layering of materials and ideas. It is an important element in my work. I enjoy processes for their own sake, and the ways in which method informs the image. The evolution of a piece is never a preconceived notion of what the work will be. All my work is an evolution whether I am working in 2d or 3d or digitally.
