A highly prolific artist, Patricia Melekus developed an interest in art at an early age. She studied under Julius Koller in her native Slovakia where she grew to define her signature style of modern surrealism, an art form that draws upon psychoanalysis, free-association, and dreams for inspiration. As a multifaceted artist, Patricia came to the United States seventeen years ago and continues to work in watercolor, ceramics, oil, acrylic, and mixed media in large format. She intricately weaves symbolism into each of her pieces as a way to convey her message to the viewer. One must look closely as Patricia also playfully embeds an Eiffel Tower – somewhere – in her art. Additionally, she is an accomplished musician, playing piano and harp, a clothing designer, and a doll maker.

Patricia holds a master’s degree in business administration and is a member of the American Watercolor Society, the Illinois Watercolor Society, and the Naperville Art League (NAL) where she served previously as Board President. She is the recipient of numerous awards including best of show at NAL’s public art competition.
