Lauren Castellano

Hi, my name is Lauren Castellano and I’m a contemporary impressionist artist. I strive to capture the character of my subject and create an impression, rather than copying exactly what I see (that’s what we have cameras for). My mediums of choice are Holbein Duo Aqua oils and Liquidex Heavy Body acrylics. In uncommon fashion, I swipe the paint directly from the tube and apply it straight to the canvas without pre-mixing on a palette (gasp)! Instead, I build thick layers of texture creating peaks and valleys of pure colors that blend together naturally as I work my way across the canvas.
