Gordon began painting full time in 2000 after retiring from the advertising
business in Chicago. He graduated from The School Of The Art Institute Of
Chicago then began a forty year career from studio artist to ad agency
creative director.

He resumed painting in 1994 after attending evening painting classes at The
School Of The Art Institute. Since then, he has had successful one-man gallery
exhibits and art shows in the midwest and east coast where his paintings have
won several show and gallery merit awards and ribbons including Best Of
Show and First Prize.

He has been a featured artist on WGN-TV, WMAQ-TV, in the Chicago Tribune and area
suburban newspapers. Gordon was awarded 3rd place in American Artist
magazine’s 70th Anniversary watercolor competition for his painting “Wrigley
Rainout” and was a featured painter on the cover and article in Watercolor magazine.
Two of his paintings chronicling American city life were on a two year exhibit at the U.S. embassy in Sarejevo as part of the State Department’s Art In Embassies program.

France’s favorite subjects are, cityscapes, urban life and sports.
His lifelong interest in sports shows up in many of his paintings and he remains
an active hockey player, competing in senior leagues and tournaments.
He regularly attends painting workshops in the US and Europe and teaches
painting classes, workshops, critiques and demonstrations throughout Chicago and the midwest.
