Viewing New Compositions

4 Week On-line Class includes, weekly pdf lessons and instructional video’s.  Interaction with instructor in on her Class Blog, all information will be shared in one place.  No need to sign up for other social media site.

Materials needed: Sketchbook, magazines, glue sticks, jar of mat medium, scissors, baby wipes, watercolor paper, drawing tools, sandpaper wax paper.

Class Description- Abstract graphic collage design with viewfinder references

A few simple supplies will get you started! Once you make your viewfinder, you will be able to explore new compositions. Lessons are simple to allow time for exploration at your personal level. You will create a collage in your sketchbook each week with your viewfinder image.  By week 4, you will be completing a final collage on a watercolor substrate. Some altering of magazine pages will be done by sanding and coating in preparation for your watercolor substrate. Class runs a fifth week so everyone can finish their assignment and post their work.

Students in the class will be:

• Using a viewfinder as an inspirational platform or reference to explore abstract design
• Using simple materials to learn and taking risks in the creative process
• Listening intuitively to trust your choices
• Finding areas and time to practice, practice and practice some more
• Witnessing you own process
• Discovering what you like and don’t like and freely making those choices with confidence.
• Dissecting an image and reconstructing it to form new perspectives that aid in your compositions.

Process is becoming a lost art as many of us fall victim to the idea of instant gratification, fed to us through our ever present technical world.  By embracing process, one can push the limits and excel in areas they never dreamed possible.

This class holds and shares simple basic skills for artists and creative souls. Good Craftsmen hone and define their craft and make it look easy despite the many hours of repeated practice. But to understand the components necessary for one’s spirit to emerge, a worthwhile investment should be made.
