The play is a wickedly funny look at the absurdities of war and the ambiguities of identity.
The comic fantasy Monstrous Regiment is adapted by Chicago writer and actor Christopher Hainsworth from the Discworld series book by best-selling author Terry Pratchett. A most unlikely band of army recruits, including a troll, a vampire, and an Igor, are under the command of the equally unusual military leaders of the fictional country of Borogravia. Monstrous Regiment runs three weekends at GreenMan’s performance space in Elmhurst at 232 S. York St. The production opens Friday, April 13 and closes April 29. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Sundays at 2:00. Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. There is ample free parking onsite but seating is limited.
