Cherith Lundin Gallery Exhibition: How the Light Gets In

 Through repetition and attentiveness to that which seems familiar, her work subtly shifts its focus from that which is viewed to the activity and experience of viewing. Her luminous and careful observations serve as a conceptual investigation of the nature of perception, the passage of time, and the effect of point of view.

Cherith Lundin is Assistant Professor of Art at Wheaton College, where she teaches painting, drawing, and printmaking. Born in Minneapolis, she grew up in Germany. She received an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and a BA from Wheaton College. She has presented her work in over fifty gallery exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, including at the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art, South Korea; the Chicago Artists Coalition; Minnesota Museum of American Art; Redux Contemporary Art Center, SC; Midwest Center for Photography, KS; South Bend Museum of Art, IN; and Galeriehaus Nord, Germany. Cherith was a HATCH Project Resident with the Chicago Artists Coalition, and is the recipient of numerous prestigious grants, including from the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the Foundation for Contemporary Art New York, the Jerome Foundation, the Indiana Arts Commission, and the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.
